Education

Graduate Education. Students interested in earning their PhD in one of the faculty laboratories should apply to the Chemistry Department, or for the applied master’s program and then apply to transfer after successful completion of the masters program. The masters program includes an industry internship and allows for students to gain industry experience before deciding to continue in the PhD program.

Undergraduate Research. Undergraduate students interested in pursuing research in electrochemical science and technology should directly contact center faculty (Boettcher, Lonergan, Brozek, Kempler). Undergraduates are encouraged to explore the ongoing projects in each group via recent publications and the respective group webpages, prior to contacting faculty.

Online Education: Electrochemistry Video Lectures are available for streaming. These are freely availably videos that we use in our courses. They may be useful for those who don’t have access to an electrochemistry or electrochemical engineering course. They will be updated, improved, and added to over time.

Industry Continuing Education in Electrochemistry: Industry professionals interested in extending their education in specific electrochemistry topics are welcome to register for any of our graduate-level courses. We offer full in-class participation to remote learners for lecture courses. Non-degree-seeking students can register for up to 8 credits at a time during the fall, winter, and spring terms (approximately 2 courses). Credits and grades earned as a non-degree-seeking student will appear on a University of Oregon transcript and become part of the student’s permanent academic record. These credits may be applied to a future Master’s degree program and are subject to the same graduation requirements as credits earned as an admitted student. Contact us at electrochemistry@uoregon.edu for questions regarding registration.
