Application Deadlines:
The early decision deadline for admissions is December 15th.
The standard deadline is February 15th.
Admissions will be made on a rolling basis and all applications will be considered until all available spots in the upcoming cohort have been filled.

In order to complete the online application process, you must:
1. Prepare a candidate’s statement
In approximately 500 words, please describe any relevant scientific experience you have that makes you a strong candidate for this program. In addition to your academic qualifications, your statement should incorporate your potential strengths as an employee in industry and why you feel this program is a good fit for your career goals. You should do this in advance in other software (e.g. Word) and then copy and paste it into the appropriate space on the form. You may also download the documents directly.
2. Submit two letters of recommendation
Request to have two letters of recommendation submitted on your behalf by faculty and/or supervisors. Although your recommenders will be notified by email that you have applied and requested a letter, you must ensure they have indeed filled out the online recommendation form. Once you have filled out the application, we will do our best to notify you as your letters of support arrive.
3. Submit a resume
Upload a 1-2 page resume highlighting your work, volunteer, research, and extra-curricular activities.
4. Submit your transcripts
Two sets of transcripts are required. One submitted with your application and one sent to the the Office of the Registrar.
5. International Students – Language Proficiency
All applicants for whom English is not a native/primary language must satisfy one of the following English Language Proficiency criteria in order to be eligible for admission.

Submit transcripts of all your undergraduate and graduate work (including work at the University of Oregon) by uploading copies directly to the application. If you’re unable to upload these documents, or prefer to send official documents, you can mail them to:

If you’ve already completed your degree, you need to send an official copy to the admissions office at the address below. If your degree is still in progress, you will need to send an official copy to the admissions office once your degree is conferred.
5. Apply for Fall Term.
The program begins Fall term. If you have questions about this, or would like to explore bridge opportunities during the summer or other terms, please contact Prof. Kempler. It may be possible to start the elective courses in other terms.
6. Fill out the application for the appropriate major.
Important: The majors are listed alphabetically under the College of Arts and Sciences. If you choose a general chemistry, physics or biology major, you will be applying to the PhD program. Please choose the following from the drop-down menu:
“Chemistry -Electrochemical Science and Technology”
7. If you are an international student, see additional university requirements via the Office of Admissions and the Division of Graduate Studies.

Make sure you choose “Chemistry-Electrochemical Science and Technology, MA, MS” as your graduate program if you are not a UO undergraduate enrolling in the AMP.
Students can choose to complete either the 6-month or 9-month coursework option once accepted into this program.
The program with the “Accelerated Masters” appended to the name is for UO undergraduates taking MS coursework as part of a 4+1 AMP program .
