Writing, publishing, and reviewing electrochemistry research: Advice from a Physical Review journal editor

Margaret H. Hudson, PhD

Associate Editor

Physical Review journals

Abstract: The Physical Review journals are well-known in the physics community for their high-quality research publications, rigorous peer review, and community engagement. As the research and publication landscape changes, the Physical Review journals are eager to support authors across physics and interdisciplinary topics. Associate Editor Maggie Hudson will present a brief overview of the Physical Review journals and discuss new initiatives in open science and interdisciplinary and applied topics, with an emphasis on renewable energy research. She will then lead a discussion on best practices for writing and reviewing scientific manuscripts. Early career researchers are encouraged to attend and bring questions about the scientific publication process.

Bio: Maggie Hudson received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago in 2019, studying the synthesis, surface chemistry, and optoelectronic properties of colloidal quantum dots in Dmitri Talapin’s group. She conducted postdoctoral research on the photophysics of colloidal semiconductor-functional molecule hybrids in the Castellano group at North Carolina State University. In 2021, she joined the Physical Review family of journals as an editor and covers topics in energy research and semiconductor optoelectronics for PRX Energy, Physical Review Materials, and Physical Review Applied.
